Lankaran State University

Lankaran State University, founded by the decision No. 319 dated September 25, 1991 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a branch of Baku State University, was reformed as an independent state university by the decree No. 403 dated July 23, 1992 of the Cabinet of Ministers.

In 28 years more than 9000 alumni have graduated from the university.

Currently, about 4500 bachelors, more than 200 masters and 50 doctorates study, more than 300 professor-teaching and administrative staff work at the university.

International and Republican scientific conferences are regularly being held in university.

Students and teachers take an active part in Republican and International knowledge competitions and sports events; also they are an initiator and active participant of a number of socio-political and cultural events.

LSU is a member of Associations of the State Universities of Caspian Region Countries, the Euroasian Universities, Azerbaijan-Russia Higher Educational Institutions and Caucasus University, the university has developed educational and scientific relations with more than 50 foreign universities and signed bilateral agreements.

Lankaran State University is the participant of international grant projects, such as ERASMUS +, Mevlana, HORIZON 2020 and others. Within the framework of these projects, the university has conducted student and teacher exchange programs with many foreign universities, was registered in “QS Rankings” and works on double diploma projects with both foreign and republican universities.

The journal of the Scientific News of Lankaran State University is published on two series.

Currently, education and research activities are carried out in 5 faculties and 13 departments.

Students and teachers benefit from expanded opportunities offered by our university. The student life of university is not limited to education. Students at this university take active part at Student Youth Organization, Student Trade Union, Student Scientific Society, Student Creativity Center, Sports club and other different events. Based on years of traditions, our university plays an important role in the life of the country and the region.

Lankaran State University infrastructure includes 4 educational buildings, 10 laboratories, a language lab, an English language center, a gym, 2 mini and one large football fields, a veterinary cabinet, a gym, a fitness hall, a scientific library (electronic) with more than 55000 books, 3 reading rooms, 2 dormitories, a conference hall, the service apartments for professor-teaching staff, Tourism Practise Centre (SEASİDE hotel), canteens, a publishing house and a greenhouse.

Tourism Practice Centre (SEASİDE hotel) is used to have practical trainings for students and masters of specialties “Tourism and Hotel Management” and “Food Products Engineering”. During international conferences or symposia, guests of university stay at this hotel.

Citrus plants and agricultural products are growing in 3 ha area of the university. At the same time 5 ha of area in Lankaran and 3 ha in Astara are separated as an experimental field.

On each university educational building territory there are canteens and parks, surrounded with greenery for students to spend their leisure time.

There is a large conference hall, that meets all modern requirements for holding republican and international scientific conferences and cultural events. University auditoriums are provided with interactive boards, computers and projectors.
