Lankaran


Lankaran is a city, located on the coast of the Caspian Sea and in the foothills of Talysh Mountains, in the south of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Residents of Lankaran speak in Azerbaijani, russian, english and ethnic Talysh language. Lankaran has a humid subtropical climate: cool, wet winters, and hot, dry humid summers. Lankaran has lots of springs and thermal water which called “Istisu”. The region is popular with its citrus fruits and tea plantations. The first ever tea plant in the country was built in Lankaran, in 1937. Lankaran’s cuisine is globally famous for its lavangi. Lavangi is a traditional meal cooked with special nut and onion. The city has an international airport opened in September 2008, a large urban transport system, and train service. There are a lot of interesting places in Lankaran.
