• Health and wellbeing services

We would like to note that psychological service is considered one of the most important jobs in Lankaran State University, both for the teaching staff and for students. Such a service has a positive effect on the quality of education. The implementation of suitable psychological measures has a very positive effect on the teaching process.

In order to ensure the more efficient operation of Lankaran State University, to eliminate psychological tensions between students and teachers and to easily solve the problems that arise, the work of the teachers of the "Pedagogy, psychology and art" department of our University is undeniable.

Our teachers who teach psychology, assoc. prof. Laman Verdiyeva, senior/lecturer Nahida Jafarova, senior/lecturer Shahin Mehraliyev, senior/lecturer Sudaba Mammadova and lecturer Rana Huseynova organize regular meetings with the faculty and students studying at our University regarding their psychological health.

In addition to teaching students scientific knowledge from the subject of psychology, both theoretically and by experience, at the same time, they carry out work related to their psychological health according to the teacher's annual action plans.

First of all, students who apply individually are provided with moral support in terms of eliminating their psychological distress, educational and psycho-consultative work is carried out from time to time in order to eliminate the psychological problems that may arise.

Also, scientific seminars on reducing and eliminating exam stress and anxiety that may arise in students before the exam are also organized in the university together with the Student Scientific Society. For example, on the initiative of the Student Scientific Society, a training called "auto-training psychological exercises" was organized with a certain group of students on the mentioned topic at the university to eliminate exam stress. As a result, in this training, students mastered various teaching methods and learned appropriate breathing techniques. After that, those students were able to take advantage of these psych techniques to eliminate stress before the exam.

Observations show that similar seminars and trainings have a positive effect on students' psychological resistance.

In addition to the above, let us note one important point that sometimes problems of adaptation to university life are revealed in students. Mainly, some of the students of the first academic year, who have started a new education, have adaptation problems.

The change in their daily life routine, nutrition, attending classes on time, and being away from their loved ones make it difficult for them to adapt to university life. The emergence of various psychosomatic symptoms in students with adaptation problems confirms this once again.

Students who cannot adapt to university life sometimes experience sudden changes in blood pressure, nausea, neurosis, affectivity, impulsivity, loss of appetite, severe headaches and migraines. Necessary work is being done to eliminate them. Supporting measures are also implemented by the psychologist teachers of the department regarding the adaptation problems of the first academic year students entering the university. Psychological conversations are held with them from time to time, morally supportive advice is given.

Lankaran State University has a gymnasium, a fitness hall, two small and one large football fields. Our students can take advantage of these opportunities. There are parks decorated with various trees, smallpoxes and decorative flowers in the territory of each academic building of the university, where students can spend their free time.

We would like to note that the Pandemic caused stress, nervousness, chronic fatigue and mental tension in people. It reduced people's hope for the future. Our psychologists hold a series of events and meetings to eliminate stress, nervousness, chronic fatigue, mental tension and hopelessness that have occurred in the lives of students and teachers after the pandemic period. This helped a lot to relieve the general tension.
