So, starting from your university years, you can take many steps to develop your career and you can make a professional transition in your career life. In this way, higher education pays off. Improving your skills is a way to increase your earning power and employability throughout your career. You can build new friendships and relationships, as well as acquire new skills, during these years. If you want to spend your academic years more successfully and differently by focusing on your career goals, our university's experience, Potential Development and Career Department. We have a few recommendations for you.

I Academic Year
We can start by getting to know the university.
The university will play an important role in your life for 4 years and will be the place where you spend most of your time. This means that at the initial stage, you should familiarize yourself more closely with the opportunities created for you by the university and take advantage of them. You can participate as a volunteer in the processes taking place in the structural units of the university. Think about what your dream job or ideal career is and then plan how you can achieve it. Develop skills that you can use in your career. Participate in career related activities. Most importantly, set a goal, try to achieve it, and believe that you can achieve it.
1. Developing language skills should be your main goal!
Learning a foreign language should be a major focus of your career. Join a conversation club at university to improve your foreign language skills. You can also participate by following social media for events related to language development.
2. Experience, potential development and career section meeting with representatives.

It is a good idea to meet with your career representative on a quarterly basis to discuss the changes that have occurred and determine the next steps in your career.
Start building your brand!
Your first impressions of who you are professionally and what you have to offer are part of your professional "brand" or personality. Your brand = your reputation, your resume and cover letter are the written parts of your brand.
First CV: You'll hear the word CV a lot over the years and it will be one of the documents you need most - whether you're looking for a job, volunteering or participating in projects, you should have a CV ready. Therefore, prepare your first CV as soon as possible without delay. What you learn about yourself will help prepare you for interviews and make resume writing easier. The opinion of professionals is very important in this matter. Inform the Experience and career section of your desire to join seminars and trainings that will facilitate the achievement of your goal and develop your hard and soft skills.3. Start joining student clubs this year. It is a great opportunity to meet new people, expand your circle, devote free time to your hobbies, work on new projects and gain different experiences in different fields. For this, the university actively shows organizations such as THİK, TGT, TEC, BIR TALABA-VOLUNTEER.
4. OASI (overall average success indicator)
Even though classes and exams can be stressful at times, they are an indispensable part of student life. You need to devote enough time to the lessons so that in the end, your overall average will be high. If you want to be a leader in your field, studying in the future is an advantage for you.
5. First volunteering
This type of activity is beneficial in many ways - volunteering programs can be your indispensable support in getting to know yourself, gaining a wider scope, being useful, developing your skills and knowledge.

When making your career plans, start by understanding your strengths, interests, skills, values, and personality.
1. Have goals: Think about your career and be clear about what you want and what you want to achieve. Set yourself a goal and try to achieve it. You will have everything.

II Academic Year

7. Network: Networking is a key communication skill that you can benefit from in both your work and personal life. Therefore, try to expand your circle with people working in your field. Networking is the communication skill for developing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships. Learn about opportunities, tips and connections to build your reputation and brand, and collaborate and share information with others. Try to increase your connections on social networks and strengthen those connections with real-life meetings.
Personal development: try to match your specialty, take advantage of development opportunities (seminars, conferences, trainings, meetings). They will not only increase your professional knowledge, but also shape your environment.
8. Summer experience:
Study time can be tough, but summer is a time of full experience. Starting in February of that year, try to make a list of companies working in your field and contact them. If there is any program and internship program, apply there. These programs will give you the opportunity to gain real work experience in your field. For this purpose, you can get support from the Experience, potential development and career section.
III Academic Year
9. Globalized world
Now is the time to go beyond the university. There are many international student organizations where you can gain an international perspective by working on different projects. You can also get information about exchange programs from the international relations department of the university. As a result, you will improve your foreign language and have the chance to work in a global environment.
By participating in Erasmus + and other exchange programs operating at the university, you may have the opportunity to study abroad for 1 semester and improve your experience. As the summer season approaches, you can start meetings with 'Work&Travel' to improve your language skills and gain experience living and working alone in a foreign country. This pleasant experience will help you make important decisions about yourself in the years to come.
IV Academic Year
10. GET IT!
Career planning meeting with the Careers Unit: it's the final year and you need to plan for life after University.
It is advisable to update your CV and motivation letter every year. It is a must to review and update your CV and cover letter every year. You should already have a professional LinkedIn page.
Domestic job opportunities: If you want to quickly start your career within the country, you need to prepare for exams such as the Civil Service (CS) and Teacher Recruitment Exam (TRE).
Study abroad: If you have chosen to study abroad, then you need to prepare for foreign language exams - IELTS, TOEFL, YÖS, TESTDAF, etc.
Preparation for full-time work: You need to look for a place to work after university. For this, you can apply directly to companies, participate in career fairs, and use job search sites.
