The Sports club

The Sports Club of Lankaran State University was established in 2000 on the basis of the Department of Physical Education and Civil Defense, which operated from 1994 to 2011, and during its activity it has cooperated with the same department and later the department of Pedagogy, Psychology and Physical Education.

There are several sports associations under the club. Trainings in these associations are conducted by sports teachers-coaches with high-level physical education in various types of sports of the university. Our students have achieved great success in the spartakiads, regional, national and international sports competitions held at the university under the leadership of the first head of the department of Physical Education and Youth Pre-Conscription Training, Master of Sports in Boxing, Associate Professor Sakin Mammadzada, Ahmad Guliyev who later headed the department, international judges Khalid Agayev, Alizada Asadov, Faragat Jalalov, instructors Fazil Asadov, Israfil Akbarov, Tofig Mustafayev, Faig Asadullayev, Rauf Agayev, Sakhavat Tahirov, Narmina Rahmanova, Ismayil Tahirov, Tahir Samadov, Arif Hasanov, Vugar Pashayev and others. As a result of it, LSU-Khazar football team of the university was represented in the national football championship and achieved good results.

Mini-football team of the university won the mini-football tournament on the southern region dedicated to the memory of the Hero of the Soviet Union, General Hazi Aslanov, organized by the Southern Regional Football Federation and Lankaran Municipality. Our students have successfully participated in several international and national tournaments.

Members of the club professional boxer Rauf Aghayev and amateur boxer Ilkin Aghayev have become world champions; Elnur Hajiyev has become European champions.

LSU students participated in the International Student Spartakiad in Astrakhan, Russia in 2001 and achieved successful results. In those competitions, our students Elnur Hajiyev and Amil Karimov won bronze medals in boxing, and Nijat Aliyev received bronze medals in Greco-Roman wrestling.

The national football team of university students played in the final of the republican football tournament held among Azerbaijani universities in 2014, and in the semifinal in 2016.

At present, the club is headed by Alizada Asadov, honored coach of the republic, national and international referee and honored worker of physical culture and sports of the republic.

Under his leadership, the sports life of the university has expanded, the club has been provided with modern sports equipment, the number of sports departments has been increased. Also the involvement of female students in sports and physical education creates good conditions for the effective organization of their leisure time and helps them to protect their health.
